The Art of Queer and Trans Educational Research Methodology: A Workshop on Community-Engaged Scholarship

Abstract

In line with the 2023 AERA Annual Meeting theme of “Interrogating Consequential Education Research in Pursuit of Truth,” this dynamic workshop session will immerse participants in creative and embodied modes of exploring anti-racist and anti-oppressive educational research methods to engage with queer and trans communities. Participants will first move through a series of three stations, each led by a queer and/or trans education researcher, that will invite them into methodological inquiry surrounding field research within queer and trans communities. Then, the group will transition into an action-oriented discussion in which we will collectively consider how educational research methodology might be (re)imagined through the lens of queer and trans community knowledge.
