"Mirror, Mirror on the Walls": Co-Interrogating Heteronormativity, Bodies, Masculinities, and Power in Multiple Educational Contexts

Abstract

We are a group of emerging scholars from different corners of the world, we are concerned about the relationships between power and gender in the academic world and beyond. This panel hopes to engage in conversations related to social justice and anti-discriminatory practices that respond to masculine, and heteropatriarchal narratives in the academic world in higher education. From diverse international perspectives, we interrogate and challenge the role of colonization in entrenching gender inequality and perpetuating the epistemic divide among senior and emerging scholars in the public and private academic domain. With this, we hope to denounce and subverted binaried worldviews through pedagogical-political acts from our own stance and experiences.
