Rigorous Research in the Time of COVID: Lessons for Rethinking Educational Research

Abstract

This symposium will examine how the COVID-19 pandemic disrupted three research teams at different institutions, each implementing federally-funded education field experiments during the pandemic. Despite the constraints imposed by COVID, these projects were able to pivot in ways that allowed them to continue their research in different ways. Each project will describe how their research was disrupted, and the novel strategies they used to respond. The panel will focus on lessons learned, including adaptations and efficiencies that changed the way they plan to pursue similar research post-pandemic. The audience will be encouraged to share their own disruptions, lessons learned, and future plans in an interactive discussion following the panel presentation.
