Abstract

Without promoting critical and ethical dialogues across spatio-temporal distances and divides, the social impact of educational design will likely be narrow, biased, fleeting and ultimately contribute to the persistence of inequity and injustice. This session responds to recent calls for increased attention to how designs and design processes privilege, restrict and change movements and connections across time and space in ways that are salient to justice and equity in learning and changemaking. The papers in this session show how space and time must be examined and manipulated as important variables in both the design of specific learning technologies and experiences, as well as in the processes, infrastructures, communities and ecosystems that produce them.
