Abstract

This session seeks to encourage cross-“generational” dialogue within the LSP SIG. The workshop will begin with a 35-minute moderated discussion featuring senior scholars of language and social processes who engage in research that “[co-constructs] with communities agendas of consequence that have a real bearing on disrupting ableism, racism, sexism, homophobia, xenophobia, and other forms of discrimination,” as detailed in the AERA call. Featured speakers will offer insights about how scholars can engage in consequential research related to language and social processes. Following the discussion, a 55-minute paired mentoring session will occur. Here, graduate students and early-career scholars will each discuss a manuscript with a senior LSP scholar-mentor with whom they have been matched in advance of the conference.
