Session Summary

Centering Equity in Research-Practice Partnerships

Thu, April 13, 4:40 to 6:10pm CDT (4:40 to 6:10pm CDT), InterContinental Chicago Magnificent Mile, Floor: 3rd Floor, King Arthur Court

Session Type: Structured Poster Session

Abstract

Both researchers and practitioners have argued that partnership is key to conducting equity-centered research. However, positioning partnership as a tool to use research to achieve just and equitable educational experiences can be difficult. The emergence of many diverse, formal research practice partnerships presents the field with the opportunity to understand the components, mechanisms, and impact of these partnerships on equity. Posters in this session will describe activities underway at universities and research organizations where researchers are working in partnership with educators and communities to achieve equitable outcomes, processes, and systems. Posters will highlight how partners are centering equity in their approach, research evidence that has emerged, and the challenges and opportunities to keeping equity at the center of their efforts.
