Building a SIG for Research on Teachers of Color and Indigenous Teachers

Abstract

Using the Handbook of Research on Teachers of Color and Indigenous Teachers as a launching point, this session will bring together scholars engaged in working to generate a special interest group (SIG) for research on teachers of color and indigenous teachers (TOCIT). The SIG aims to bring together members interested in research regarding teachers of color and indigenous teachers from across teaching context(s) and content area(s) and emphasize: Recruitment & Retention, Program Design, Pedagogy & Leadership, Minority Serving Institutions, Human Resource Development & Induction, Mentorship & Professional Development, Intersectionality, Educational Impact, and Policy. Working group presenters include both handbook contributors and individuals committed to research, practice and policies on TOCIT. Presentations will lead to a generative conversation on the new SIG.
