Session Type: Symposium
Over the last year, state legislatures have introduced hundreds of bills that curb queer and trans (QT) rights in education. These efforts undoubtedly create a hostile climate for QT students who have to navigate turbulent environments that specifically compromises their rights and liberties. The objective of our symposium is to advance empirical research using data from HSLS:09 through a variety of methodological approaches. As QT researchers who embrace quantitative criticalism, we are committed to using data to illuminate educational contexts facing QT youth. We have designed this session toward the goal of generating insights that will empower stakeholders to improve learning conditions for QT students.
