Abstract

This symposium addresses a central and timely issue in the field of education: How to prepare teachers to be resourceful and responsive practitioners in addressing the intellectual, socioemotional, and sociopolitical needs of multilingual learners in U.S. schools through times of uncertainty and restrictions?
The collection of papers prepared for this session are intended to expand visions of multilingual learners and their families, to create spaces for discussions related to broader learning ecologies, to interrogate and name injustices often associated with this population of students, and to advance educational research and teaching practices to address the various conditions imposed by current sociopolitical issues and the pandemic-related challenges.
