Session Type: Symposium
This symposium invites participants to discuss ways to advance Community Cultural Wealth (CCW) in higher education and work contexts. CCW is a consequential framework that has been adopted in policy and practice discussions to promote educational equity for minoritized populations. Panelists include scholars and policy analysts who are using CCW to examine transition points in students’ lives - from high school to college, and into careers - as well as representatives from a nonprofit that incorporates CCW into its central mission. Presenters will discuss new ways to measure CCW, theoretically expanding CCW while remaining true to its original intent, and using asset-based language to communicate with employers. Group discussions will build connections between scholars who are using CCW in different educational settings.
