Session Type: Symposium
Youth homelessness is a racialized social issue in the United States. Not only are Black, Latino, and Indigenous youth disproportionally represented in the youth homeless population, the spaces where they reside and are educated have been negatively impacted by the legacy of racial policy and practices. This symposium brings together scholars that examine youth’s homeless experience in the context of racialized urban settings. The authors present race-conscious policy analysis of youth homelessness and argue for a race and space conscious implementation of wraparound services to support students experiencing homelessness in schools.
