Session Type: Symposium
This session centers on youths’ historicized understandings of their translingual, transnational, and transcultural experiences and realities and the particular kinds of relational and discursive spaces that facilitated these understandings. Three papers focus on an innovative social design experiment (i.e., a summer program) and one paper focuses on youth participatory action research. The session engages educators in considering the guiding principles and social organization of learning that builds on youths’ backgrounds, experiences, knowledge, inquiries, and histories to enact reflection, resistance, and resilience through various modalities.
