Session Type: Symposium
Research is often the field on which a struggle for truth plays out. This session contributes to our understanding of what constitutes “consequential education research” by amplifying the research of three Chicago-based teacher-researchers, each reflecting on different aspects of practice. The first is a critical self-study of one teacher-researcher’s reflections on mentoring pre-service teachers. The second is a case study focusing on a professional development course with ELA teachers. The third paper uses interviews with teachers in one school building to examine teachers’ understandings and enactments of diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives. Taken together, these studies open a space for conversation among teacher-researchers seeking to contribute their own critical analysis and reflections of their daily experiences as practitioners and scholars.
