Session Type: Symposium
Networks of schools working collaboratively toward shared improvement aims proliferated the education field in recent decades. One recent driver of this trend is the significant influx of resources from philanthropic organizations: for example, the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation is investing over $300 million to support 40+ Networks for School Improvement (NSI) working to reduce inequities in minoritized students’ post-secondary success. These networks engage hundreds of schools and impact hundreds of thousands of students. This session presents five empirical papers from a large-scale study of network development in the NSI initiative. Together the papers have significant scholarly and practical implications related to better understanding how to organize networks to accelerate school improvement in pursuit of more equitable student learning opportunities.
