Sat, April 15, 11:40am to 1:10pm CDT (11:40am to 1:10pm CDT), Radisson Blu Aqua Hotel, Chicago, Floor: 2nd Floor, Baltic

Session Type: Symposium

Abstract

Responding to the AERA call to “organize a symposium that focuses on creating a space for analysis and discussion designed to interrogate and advance methods, mechanisms, and practices that name injustice”, this international symposium explores how women’s leadership is studied, understood, and shared across cultures. What methods count? Whose truths are recorded and by whom? Researchers explore women's leadership in Africa, UK, India, US, Afghanistan, and Costa Rica. The organizing research for this symposium are the 42 chapters in the Bloomsbury Handbook of Gender and Educational Leadership and Management. Authors respond to the discussion topics from their research, methodological, and cultural/social perspectives as detailed in individual paper descriptions.
