Session Type: Symposium
The need to move the field of teacher education forward is evident within systemic equity problems of practice in preservice teacher preparation that impact our ability to consistently prepare teachers for achieving the expected learning outcomes for young people from various experiential backgrounds and with different needs. A sampling of key equity issues include the well-documented theory-practice divide, and the lack of transferability of tools used to support teacher learning across contexts. Elevating the conversations about equity in teacher education, this symposia collaboratively engages an intergenerational, multidisciplinary group of distinguished and emerging teacher education scholars in structured dialogue to collectively discuss solutions to problems of practice.
