Session Type: Symposium
The symposium is a panel discussion of five currently practicing teacher leadership doctoral candidates, an assistant professor of teacher leadership, and a senior scholar of Critical Teacher Leadership (CTL). Each teacher-leader will present their research, drawing connections between their inquiries and CTL. The first presentation will discuss research at the classroom level regarding culturally responsive instruction; the second and third presentations explore the school-level relationships between peers and general education colleagues who teach EL students; and, the fourth and fifth presentations focus on district-level teacher leadership related to special education and new teacher retention, respectively. Each will highlight and complicate CTL alongside their work, namely critical pedagogy, teacher advocacy, supportive leadership, and its ability to humanize research on teacher leadership.
