Abstract
Propelled by the COVID-19 pandemic, online and AI technologies (such as AI-powered content delivery systems, learning management software, and adaptive testing platforms) have impacted millions of students, teachers, and schools and might continue in future years. With growing concerns about AI in education in terms of ethics, control, data privacy, and pedagogy, especially in the context of communities of color, rural communities, and low-income communities which have been disproportionately affected by the shift to remote learning, such significant implications of AI in Education leave researchers with greater responsibility than ever to examine its risks and opportunities. This panel showcases emergent examples of thought-provoking learning environments, pedagogies, and practices addressing such concerns.
