Session Type: Symposium
This session discusses key findings from three distinct studies that have critically explored the racialized nature of educational policies and the experiences of Women of Color in higher education settings, during a socio-political climate that is explicitly racist and anti-Critical Race Theory. Individually, papers: (1) Utilize a critical race educational history approach to examine racial microaggression in educational policies, and the racial microaffirmations People of Color activists engage in; (2) Draws attention to the racial microaggressions WOC doctoral students experience and; (3) Uplifts stories of microaffirmations between WOC in film school through Endarkened Storywork. Ultimately, this panel details how the Critical Race tool of racial microaggressions and racial microaffirmations can be harnessed in challenging historically silenced narratives in education research.
