Session Type: Symposium
This symposium focuses on research that enables us to think about racial “diversity” not just as a form of assimilation or colonization, but as a project that requires us to reconceptualize how racially, ethnically and culturally diverse learning environments can foster educational benefits for all students – from Pre-K through higher education. The papers in this symposium will compare and contrast integration work being done (or not) in pre-K, K-12 and higher education with the goal of helping educators, policy makers, researchers and lawyers learn from each other, as the work of antiracist teaching and learning in pre-K-12 education should be informing higher education, while the insights on how maintain more diverse student enrollment should flow from higher education to Pre-K-12.
