Addressing Social Trauma in and Through Education: Humanization, Critical Race Technology, and Critically Holistic Approaches

Abstract

This panel turns to critical social theory and research in the health sciences for robust framework s to provide a richer basis for understanding previously underexplored questions about how research can not only be critical and community responsive but how it might also help better account for the additional developmental demands youth and teachers in urban settings must negotiate. Through this panel we seek to advance the aforementioned interdisciplinary lens that will serve as the analytical lens for which we understand the context of urban communities and the necessary teaching practices needed to more effectively serve the needs of urban youth.
