Education as a Civil Right?

Abstract

Considering recent social movements designed to maintain an inequitable status quo, including legislation that bans content that teaches about racism, sexism, homophobia, and xenophobia, because they might make someone feel guilty about their race or gender, how do we continue to push for and frame education as a civil right? Have educational civil rights changed in this current context where the courts often reflect the political ideologies of a conservative minority?
