Mentoring for Inclusion in the Professions

Abstract

Building upon the Annual Conference theme and previous Division I symposia that focused on DEI issues, our goal in this session is to reinforce and amplify those themes and stretch our thinking about the role mentoring plays in the larger system or research framework in which we are currently operating. What does good mentoring look like? Is it different across the professions of medical education, engineering, teaching, business or other professions? How does the learning environment help to support or impede mentoring relationships? Are there differences across cultures, environments, peer-to-peer or mentor-mentee approaches? Are there some environments that make mentoring easier?
