Abstract
This session brings together four highly rated Lives of Teachers SIG papers that each examine aspects of teacher agency and voice related to 1)legislative constraints on teacher agency to teach 'divisive' issues,' 2) Black teacher identity and agency in navigating anti-Black education systems and assimilationist practices, 3) affordances on Black teacher agency in predominantly white conservative school space, and 3) the resistance narratives highlighted by teachers in very public 'QuitTok' social media broadcast resignations.
