Session Type: Business Meeting
The Business Meeting of the Biographical and Documentary Research SIG is a celebration of the life and legacy of bell hooks. Internationally acclaimed panelists accompanied by their current and former doctoral students will share letters of love and gratitude that address topics such as bell hooks’ contributions to their personal and professional lives, as well as their research, practice and activism. Panelists will highlight hooks’s contributions to their work in the areas of abolitionist pedagogy, anti-racist and anti-oppressive education, and personal expressions of genius using the arts in urban science education. Session attendees are invited to participate by contributing to a collective letter of love and gratitude generated in real-time via an online word cloud.
