Abstract

Centered within a transformative learning framework, global citizenship education (GCED) has been pivotal in encouraging students to actively participate in initiatives that contribute to a more peaceful, accepting, inclusive, and safe society. Focusing on the cognitive, socio-emotional, and behavioral domains of learning, GCED empowers learners by promoting quality education where they learn to live together (Leite, 2022). Acknowledging that assessment is important in addressing the equitable educational practices that undergird global citizenship education, the Division D International Committee hosts an invited session exploring practices and methodologies characterizing global citizenship education and assessment in local and international contexts. The panelists will reflect on the nuanced challenges and opportunities of GCED and assessment, with particular insights from their regions, as we question consequential education research in pursuit of truth.
