Culturally Sensitive and Agentic Research-Practice Partnerships in and Around Chicago

Abstract
Research practice partnerships (RPPs) work to mutually sustain the long-term goals of both school practitioners and formal researchers (at academic institutions as well as nonacademic research organizations) to investigate problems of practice and implement solutions for educational improvement. Culturally sensitive and agentic RPPs allow the partners use research to understand and mobilize the strengths of the school community in order to address the challenges they face and disrupt systems that oppress or limit their health and growth. This panel session explores the experiences, motivations, successes, and challenges of four research practice partnerships in and around the greater Chicago area that honor the powerful research at work in the 2023 AERA annual meeting’s host city.
