Bilingual Education Research SIG Mentoring Session

Abstract

The AERA Bilingual Education Research mentoring session will consist of three parts: first we will have a 60-minute theme-based discussion panel featuring bilingual education scholars who engage in research that “[co-constructs] with communities agendas of consequence that have a real bearing on disrupting ableism, racism, sexism, homophobia, xenophobia, and other forms of discrimination,” as detailed in the AERA call. Then there will be a 40-minute space for mentors and mentees to engage in 1-to-1 interaction, which will be principally directed by the goals of the mentor and mentee. Lastly, we will get back together to engage in a 20-minute large group conversation to share reflections and insights.
