Humanizing Identities and Focusing on Belonging in Online Teaching and Learning

Abstract

Online teaching and learning can be a pleasant and affirming experience for both students and instructors. While there are important cognitive and behavioral supports that have been well-researched for online learning experiences, historically there has been less attention to relational and identity-affirming aspects of online pedagogy. The purpose of this mentoring session is to explore space making for identities and belonging research on online teaching and learning. We will discuss theoretical framing, research planning, and publishing from these perspectives.
