Fostering Sustainable and Thriving Teams: An Entrepreneurial Ecosystem Driven by Teachers

Sat, April 13, 3:05 to 4:35pm, Pennsylvania Convention Center, Floor: Level 200, Exhibit Hall B

Abstract

To improve their practices, teachers need to regularly develop pedagogical initiatives. This study explores the relationship between entrepreneurial teachers and the entrepreneurial ecosystem, including formal and informal networking within schools. A survey of 734 teachers from 30 primary and secondary schools found that entrepreneurial attributes and competencies have hierarchical structures, and that entrepreneurial teachers' attributes were linked to entrepreneurial teachers' competencies, which in turn were linked to the entrepreneurial ecosystem's formal and informal networking. The study also found that teachers with more than three years of experience had more teacher entrepreneurial competencies than less experienced teachers. These findings suggest that teachers can cultivate collective propensity within the entrepreneurial ecosystem and highlight the importance of developing pedagogical initiatives to improve teaching practices.
