Current landscape does not reflect the ethnic and racial diversity of teachers and leaders in education. Specifically, there is a disparity in the percentage of Asian American principals compared to Asian American students. The lack of understanding the nuances of both Asian and American cultures and the acceptance of stereotypes can negatively impact the perception of Asian Americans, which can contribute to the underrepresentation of K-12 Asian Americans in leadership positions. Therefore, this study explores the cultural values of Asian Americans and how they impact their leadership preferences in order to address these stereotypes and perceptions of Asian Americans being unfit for leadership positions in education.
