Prioritizing, Building, and Maintaining Research-Practice Partnerships Within Design-Based Research

Thu, April 11, 12:40 to 2:10pm, Pennsylvania Convention Center, Floor: Level 200, Exhibit Hall B

Abstract

Partnerships between research and practice are a promising approach for collaboratively enhancing educational practices, yet more research is needed to provide actionable steps to prioritize, build, and maintain research-practice partnerships (RPPs). I conducted an instrumental case study to investigate one RPP in the context of a larger design-based research study. The purpose of this case study was to explore strategies researchers might use to prioritize, build, and maintain authentic RPPs to collaboratively solve problems of practice. This study provides suggestions for researchers to confront racism and injustice in partnership with practitioners in a way that values their expertise. Furthermore, this study offers promising steps in uniting research and practice to be a true catalyst for change.
