Reported Symptoms and Institutional Support for Students With Long COVID: A 2022–2023 Academic Year Snapshot

Sat, April 13, 1:15 to 2:45pm, Pennsylvania Convention Center, Floor: Level 200, Exhibit Hall B

Abstract

The purpose of this project is two-fold: (1) examine the reported symptoms of students with Long COVID requesting accommodations and (2) identify if institutions have established communication strategies and allocated resources for supporting students with Long COVID. Using a national survey of disability resource professionals (DRPs), over half of DRPs indicated that students requested accommodations for Long COVID-related mental fog and problems concentrating. The majority of surveyed DRPs also noted limited outreach related to student Long COVID support. Data from this study highlighted a range of Long COVID symptoms and limited communication related to Long COVID. Implications include the need to establish additional support and guidelines on how to support students with Long COVID to ensure their postsecondary success.
