Abstract

This presentation examines how one PK-12 school district created and incorporates a district wide therapy dog program to support social emotional learning and prioritize the mental health of students, educators, and staff. Information will be shared about how therapy dogs are incorporated throughout the district classrooms, including general and special education, as well as staff working spaces. In addition, information will be shared about how the therapy dog program was created and specific examples will be shared about how therapy dogs have supported the social emotional well-being of students, faculty, and staff.
