The purpose of this mixed methods case study, conducted in collaboration with the school as applied research, was to explore post-COVID math engagement and achievement. The data were triangulated through the use of student survey and academic data from three time points, and teacher interviews from two time points. The middle school in this case study had implemented a multi-faceted initiative to help address post-COVID math learning challenges. Three key findings emerged from the data analysis, including: 1) Varied perceptions among teachers about the impacts of the school-wide initiatives; 2) Student engagement and behavioral challenges in a post-COVID learning environment; and 3) Minimal student academic gains on standardized testing. Implications for future changes, such as project-based learning, are included.
