This study aimed to investigate the impacts of mobile phone addiction on depression, and the mediating roles of social anxiety and sleep quality, as well as the moderating role of resilience in the relationships mentioned above. A questionnaire survey was carried out among college students from four universities in China. A sample of 807 participants varying from freshmen to seniors responded with a responded rate of 100%. Results indicated that mobile phone addiction could not only directly affect depression, but also affect depression through the mediation role of social anxiety and sleep quality. Moreover, resilience moderated the adverse influence of mobile phone addiction on social anxiety and depression.
