This action research project explores mending in queer pedagogy within art education, specifically focusing on reparative reading proposed by Sedgwick (2003). To explore the multifaceted experiences of AAPI queer individuals and encourage empathy through artistic expression, the authors conducted a groundbreaking experimental art project titled "In Their Shoes" within college-level art education courses. The study emphasizes the importance of moving beyond cultural colorblindness in queer studies and highlights three key components for integrating queer of color topics into art curriculum: detecting intraracial dynamics, establishing empathetic connections, and cultivating self-awareness of intersectionality. The findings contribute to fostering empathy and understanding in art education through the lens of queer pedagogy and reparative reading.
