Asian American college students have increased significantly in the United States, yet they continue to face discrimination on college campuses. Using AsianCrit as the conceptual framework, the author presents two counterstories of his experiences as a Chinese male immigrant doctoral student at a predominantly White institution in the Pacific Northwest. Implications include how Asian male immigrant doctoral students can use AsianCrit to understand their racialization and embrace yet resist essentialism in research preparation and work settings. The study concludes by discussing the importance of sharing counterstories from an AsianCrit lens to advocate for racial justice given the lingering anti-Asian xenophobia in the United States after the COVID-19 pandemic.
