Centering Asian American Voices Across K to Higher Education: Solidarity of Asian American Educators

Fri, April 12, 9:35 to 11:05am, Pennsylvania Convention Center, Floor: Level 200, Exhibit Hall B

Abstract

By blending AsianCrit and culturally sustaining pedagogies, three Asian Americans examine their own curricular work as educators. Their shared narratives critically reflect upon the necessity of centering Asian American voices and engaging the complexity and diversity of the Asian American community. They hope to inspire educators to explore different strategies for teaching the Asian American experience in ways that affirm Asian/Asian American students as well as broaden the concept of “belonging” for all students in the K-20 classrooms.
