study and how dreaming and becoming came across transnational educational settings.
This study examines the impact of instruction that centers the dreams, stories and
experiences of Black and Brown youth. Two case studies are presented, one involving inservice teachers in Jamaica, and one involving in-service teachers in North Carolina. Using
Emancipation Literacies, in-service teachers work to center students' stories, dreams, and
cultures, highlighting the importance of creating relational learning spaces that embrace
students' full identities and center their lived experiences.
