This qualitative study explores field supervisor observation evaluation feedback to identify areas for preservice teacher improvement. We examine nearly 8,000 observations over the course of a decade within one preparation program, with two primary categories of pedagogy emerging: instructional development and monitoring student behavior. We illuminate important nuances (subcategories) within these areas using illustrative quotes. Findings for this study have implications for teacher preparation programs and field supervisor professional development.
