Design-in-the-Making: Collaboration, Inclusion, and Innovation Room for Teacher Candidates to Seek Educational Possibilities Within the Design Makings of Teacher Education Programs

Sun, April 14, 7:45 to 9:15am, Pennsylvania Convention Center, Floor: Level 200, Exhibit Hall B

Abstract

Permeating our Bachelor of Education program is the formative nature of professional knowledge. Chronicling and analyzing the cultivation of identities-in-the-making, embraces practice-based research as a habit of all educators. Positioned to continually discern how best to incite and further students’ learning, we find that such pedagogical reasoning invites the development of a language of practice that acts as a powerful medium for reconceptualizing education as individual/collective growth and well-being with found kinships to long-held beliefs and modes of being embodied within Indigenous wisdom traditions, and extending education’s reach in collaboration with all institutions, society, and beyond. The development of such transformative thinking within situations becomes our program design challenge and the topic of this presentation.
