Critical Perceptions of Undocumented Students for Inclusion, Justice, and Opportunity

Sat, April 13, 3:05 to 4:35pm, Pennsylvania Convention Center, Floor: Level 100, Room 111B

Abstract

Immigration politics is contentious in the United States. DACA recipients provide their perspectives and experiences of the challenges faced and the ways in which they adapted to federal and local policies and its detrimental consequences for their schooling and within their communities. Discussion is focused on policy articulations and consequential challenges, cultural negotiations and adaptations, and manifestations of agency and activism. Implications for policy, research, and practice are explained in relation to equity and justice priorities.
