The current study was conducted to develop and validate an ultra-short screening scale, the Quality of Life for Children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (QOLASD-C3), from the full screening scale using an American sample (N = 1,833). A scale with three items was developed with decent reliability (alpha: .901) and validity evidence (correlation with the full scale: .873). A cut-off score of 7 was established with high level of accuracy. Finally, logistic regression results indicated that the classification status with both scale versions has similar relationship patterns with the demographic characteristics. The results are relevant to stakeholders interested in designing an ultra-short scale to increase the survey response rate.
