Presenter 2 will share a case study from her current work that highlights the disconnect between public education and higher education. The Relevancy and History Project seeks to unearth the stories of peoples and communities marginalized by the legacies of enslavement, colonialism, and imperialism. The presentation explores the challenges of dealing with these legacies in public/community and institutionalized sites of learning. In addition, there will be a discussion of the ways that she supported students engaged in holding institutions accountable for collective change and how the interplay between nostalgia and privilege are at the crux of learning and teaching.
