Presenter 3 will share a story about teacher education and the ways in which efforts to prepare anti-racist teachers seem diminished when anonymous surveys are distributed and students’ responses are antithetical to what was taught within the classroom space. In reality, racist teachers continue to be mass produced under the guise of equity and justice. Considering the current state of our world juxtaposed with the wealth of knowledge possessed by our ancestral fugitive pedagogues, this discussion challenges us to consider the question: Given the teachers we are training, how do we move beyond conversation and towards action that reflects in the cohort of preservice teachers navigating classrooms and communities similar to and/or different from their own?
