Healing Feminist Autoethnography and the Spiral Path

Thu, April 11, 12:40 to 2:10pm, Philadelphia Marriott Downtown, Floor: Level 3, Room 302

Abstract

In this paper, I describe my interrogation of gendered experiences as a woman in educational leadership through a healing feminist autoethnographic self-study, using the major arcana cards of the Tarot as symbolic touchstones for my work. I expand upon feminist co/autoethnography and foundational self-study research to incorporate healing as a facet of self-study exploration. This methodological stance offers the potential for deep and meaningful reflection and growth, allowing us to navigate hierarchical power dynamics, sexism, racism, and misogyny with understanding and grace. This work is also in an effort to contribute to a growing body of self-study research that elevates marginalized knowledges, fosters connection, and builds community.
