Students in higher education use the Internet increasingly for self-directed learning, which requires skills to determine which information is reliable and accurate as learning material. Since 2023, the German Science Foundation funds the interdisciplinary research unit presented in this poster. Starting in the winter term 2023/2024 with a representative sample of 1.200 students at twelve large faculties across Germany, we’ll present initial and globally unique insights on the critical online reasoning of incoming students from different domains at the beginning of their higher education studies.
