Collaborating in virtual teams is becoming increasingly important at modern workplaces. Therefore, the development of respective competencies and skills in vocational education and training of young professionals is of great importance. However, there is only little research regarding success factors of virtual teamwork so far. The aim of this study is therefore to support research-informed action by investigating factors to foster meaningful outcomes in virtual teamwork of young professionals. We conducted 32 interviews to gain in-depth insights into the underlying processes. The data is content analysed following the Input-Process-Outcome-framework of virtual teams by Dulebohn & Hoch (2017). The results reveal a multiplicity of influencing factors in virtual teamwork, which are interrelated and affect each other to different degrees.
