Training in-service teachers in effective teaching approaches (e.g. explicit instruction) for all students and promoting social justice is a challenge for all societies. This research presents how a teacher was effectively trained and how her practices evolved during training. Four of the teacher's lessons and 3 coaching sessions were filmed. The recordings were analyzed in detail using an observation grid inserted in The Observer XT® software. The results show that the teacher rapidly implemented the explicit instruction steps with a high-fidelity rate, and that 77% of the coach's advice was followed. This offers educational possibilities for training teachers in fair and effective practices.
